PAUL (PABLO) WEINSCHENK

Pablo Weinschenk began blowing glass after a long career as a photographer and fine art printer. Son of a cinematographer who fled Nazi Germany for Argentina, Pablo came to New York in 1968. In 1982, he opened Clone-a-Chrome, a photo lab in Manhattan’s photo district, which for more than two decades produced Cibachrome prints for some of the late 20th Century’s most famous photographers. As the traditional printing business declined due to digital photography and printing, Pablo began to study glassblowing and, in 2010, opened the first Pablo Glass studio in an old factory complex in Garnerville, NY. When Hurricane Irene destroyed the studio, together with Ernesto Echeverria, Pablo rebuilt a new facility—first in Kingston, then in Woodstock, and in 2018 in its current and forever location adjacent to Woodstock Art Exchange on Route 28 in West Hurley. While he loves creating art in many forms, Pablo considers his main contribution to the glass world to be establishing a glass studio and gallery where artists come together to create, display, and sell their work, and the public can witness the magic of glassblowing.
